Prescription Barcodes Now Available in the NHS App

Patients can now use the NHS App to access a prescription barcode for approved prescriptions. Your pharmacy can scan this barcode directly, making it easier to collect your medication without a paper prescription token.

How to find your prescription barcode in the NHS App

• Sign in to your NHS App.
• Select Prescriptions.
• Choose Check the progress of your prescriptions.
• Select one of your approved prescriptions.
• Tap the medication you want to collect.
• Select Prescription Barcode.

A barcode will then be displayed on your screen.

Collecting your medication

When you arrive at the pharmacy, simply show the prescription barcode on your mobile device. The pharmacy team can scan the barcode to access your prescription and provide your medication.
