Our nurses are fully trained and able to deal with a number of minor ailments, offer professional advice and advise whether a doctor’s appointment is necessary. In addition, they offer: 

 
  •  Family Planning Advice and Services - including long acting methods e.g Coils and  Contraceptive Implants
  •  Cervical Smears 
  •  Travel Advice and Immunisation
  •  Dressings 
  •  Blood Pressure Checks 
  •  Removal of Sutures 
  •  Advice on the Treatment of Minor Injuries   and  Illnesses 
  •  Nurse Specialist for Asthma, Menopause and Coronary Heart Disease

Travel Immunisation

If you intend to go abroad on holiday or business you may need the protection of travel vaccinations and malaria tablets.  Please complete a travel form available from reception at least 6 weeks in advance of your travel to ensure adequate cover.  A charge of £15 will be made for the issue of a prescription for malaria tablets which is in addition to the cost of the tablets from a pharmacy.

Non NHS Services

Some services fall outside the NHS remit and for these a charge may be made. These include medical insurance claim forms; private certificates; holiday cancellation claim forms; some travel vaccinations and various special examinations for employment; sports etc. A full list of these services is displayed on our notice board and kept at the reception desk together with current prices as recommended by the British Medical Association.

Medical Examinations 

If required, eg by an insurance company, these are charged at the standard BMA rates. If you need a special examination please arrange this with the receptionist.

 

Flu Vaccination

An influenza vaccination is particularly recommended for patients with chronic heart, lung or kidney disease  diabetes and immuno suppressed conditions.  Please contact the reception staff in September for details of vaccination clinics and make an appointment.

Our health care assistants (HCA) are available to take blood for tests.

Smoking Cessation

Our HCA is available to assist, encourage and monitor your progress in smoking cessation.  Please contact reception to arrange an appointment.

Minor Surgery

Minor surgery is undertaken by Dr Naimish Gandhi, currently on Monday mornings and Dr Nirmalan Puvi on Wednesday mornings. Patients will be placed on a waiting list and will be contacted once an appointment becomes available.

In addition both Dr Nirmalan Puvi and Dr Naimish Gandhi provide joint injections during a consultation.  Ask your doctor for further information.

 

Counselling

Counselling services are provided by Insight Healthcare on Tuesdays and Fridays from New Ash Green surgery, by appointment only. Patients can self-refer by calling 0300 555 5555 or click here

Mental health

If you are struggling with mental health problems or have concerns please ask to speak to our Mental Health Nurse. 

 

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy service is provided by Healthshare at New Ash Green surgery on a weekly basis. You can self-refer for basic medical problems such as: lower back pain, joint pain at https://www.healthsharedgs.org.uk/refer-yourself or the doctor can refer you for this service.

When you are contacted by Healthshare you will be offered the next available appointment, please note this may not be at New Ash Green surgery as the service is also available at other GP practices in the area.

Dietitian

Dietitian service is provided by Community Services every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month, on alternate weeks at Kent House and New Ash Green surgeries. The doctor will refer you to this service.
